The latest numbers seem to indicate an end to the recession but I've always
been told to hope for the best > while planning for the worst!
Stories about Home Foreclosures and Small Businesses closing are everywhere
in the news today from Yahoo reporting the new ghost towns spreading across the US to local news organizations who have
reported stories like how the Blue Goose restaurant in Lilburn closed down due to the owners getting a diverse. The closure
of the restaurant resulted in several of the local gift shops and other businesses closing their doors because they knew that
their customers came from the Blue Goose.
"It is all connected and inter-dependent."
Small Businesses are credited with producing 70% of the jobs and are therefore
the backbone of the economy. When the Small Businesses close, 7 out of 10 local jobs are lost which of course results in Americans
not being able to pay their mortgages. Americans with-out jobs also can't spend their money supporting the local small businesses
resulting in the Small Businesses closing.
This vicious cycle and the resulting Ghost Town can be prevented right
here in Ellenwood, if those who live here - spend their money here > supporting the local economy. Ellenwood covers 3 Counties
and has enough residents to support the local economy and to become self sufficient with-out any outside help from Washington
or anyone!
The plan is a simple one:
If the local businesses (big and small) and other organizations
like churches for example (which are all in touch with the local residents) can get the word out and motivate the local residents
to spend their money only in Ellenwood, which has everything that they need, this can stimulate the local economy!
Furthermore, if local businesses agree to hire from with-in Ellenwood
before hiring from outside, this may itself help to motivate the local residents to spend their money here supporting the
local businesses because if the local businesses grow - they can produce jobs for the friends and families of the local residents!
The message to Residents > "Spend your money here in order to create
jobs for your Friends and Family!"If small businesses produce 70% of the jobs, I suspect that big businesses produce 30% (3
out of 10 jobs).
The big businesses will likely survive the recession but many small businesses
will not and their closure will adversely affect the big businesses largely because the residents will have less money to
spend at the big businesses as well. The message to the Big Businesses should therefore be > "Support the local small businesses
and help them get through the recession in order to prevent the Ghost Town that may result here in Ellenwood."
The message to the small businesses (and big businesses as well) >
"Hire from with-in Ellenwood and motivate the residents to spend locally!" Ellenwood Businesses can post their Want Ads seeking
to hire employees for free on the website Ellenwood.Biz!
In order to get the word out to the residents and to get everyone on the
same sheet of paper, the Map on the website can be printed and handed out. The map will be updated and the
latest version will be published on the local website along with this letter explaining the plan.
The website will have a local business directory showing what is available
here and local businesses are welcome to send in coupons and offers for consumers to use.
Ellenwood has prospered and grown over the years and we can prevent the
loss and possible resulting Ghost Town if we unite, work together and > act now!
"If those who live here, spend their money here, we can prosper
here!"
